Supervision with Abi Olivares, LCSW: A Kind, Empathic, and Empowering Approach
As a Clinical Social Work Associate, you are at an exciting, transformative stage in your career! My supervision approach is grounded in kindness, empathy, and a deep respect for your unique journey as a future social worker. Together, we’ll create a safe and nurturing space where you can explore your strengths, confront challenges, and grow both personally and professionally. I believe in fostering a trusting, collaborative relationship where you feel heard, valued, and empowered to take the next steps in your career with confidence.
Through our work together, I aim to help you build the practical skills and knowledge needed to thrive as a social worker, while also encouraging you to find your own voice and passion within the field. I draw on my years of experience in a variety of social work settings to provide insightful feedback, offer guidance on best practices, and help you refine your clinical skills. Additionally, I am skilled at helping you explore transference and countertransference, allowing us to identify and work through the emotional dynamics that can arise between you and your clients. This self-awareness is crucial in building strong therapeutic relationships and will deepen your clinical practice, making you a more attuned and effective clinician.
I understand that every clinician’s path is unique, and I’m committed to helping you discover where your true passions lie within social work. My supervision is designed not only to help you build the technical skills required for licensure but also to encourage your personal growth, creativity, and self-awareness as a therapist. Together, we’ll focus on cultivating your strengths and addressing any challenges you face, so you can become the kind of social worker you aspire to be—skilled, compassionate, and passionate about the work.
What Supervision Looks Like in Session:
Case Consultation: We’ll discuss your current caseload, review specific client challenges, and collaboratively explore strategies for interventions and best practices.
Skill Building: I’ll offer targeted guidance on refining your therapeutic techniques and growing your clinical skills, whether it's in trauma-informed care, CBT, or other approaches.
Transference & Countertransference Exploration: Together, we’ll examine the emotional dynamics that may be influencing your therapeutic relationships and help you gain insights into your own reactions and responses.
Personal & Professional Growth: I’ll help you reflect on your own self-awareness and personal development as a clinician, guiding you in finding your voice and passion in social work.
Plan of Supervision
As part of the supervision process, I will develop and file a detailed Plan of Supervision with the Oregon Board of Social Workers to ensure that all requirements for licensure are met. This plan will outline specific goals, activities, and timelines for your professional development. I will also track and manage your supervision hours, ensuring that you are meeting the required number of hours for licensure. Typically, we will meet twice per month, with each session tailored to address your unique needs and progress, allowing us to make adjustments as needed to support your growth and success.
