Demetrio Sanchez, Jr is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that understands human behavior and has an uncanny ability to build and maintain relationships built on trust and follow through. He was formerly a Director of Behavioral Health and an assistant professor at OHSU. He has presented in multiple national conferences, educated medical professionals, and is a published author in medical journals.

He specializes in individual therapy with ages 14 and up and offers treatment modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and Family Systems to help with symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma and adjustment issues. Demetrio particularly enjoys working with athletes and working professionals that are driven, work in high pressure environments and are seeking psychotherapy to improve their mental wellness.

Demetrio received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a master’s degree in Social Work from Portland State University. He has completed a post-graduate medical fellowship via the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine that was focused on family systems. His clinical interests include working with athletes, anxiety/depression work, performance coaching, resident education, behavioral health integration, doctor-patient relationships and the promotion of nutrition and exercise.

Demetrio was an elite soccer player and full-ride scholarship athlete at Duke University. He represented and played for the US Youth National Team and was a member of the National Team Pool for several years. Demetrio often wonders what kind of athlete he’d be if a therapist was helping him become the best version of himself.

Demetrio loves watching European soccer, swinging with his daughter at the park, beach days, getting adequate sleep and Saturday morning cartoons. He’s a die-hard Real Madrid futbol fan. Hala Madrid!!!
